Growing up in New York City, a “city that never sleeps” with a population of about (xxsxxxx) and a diversified number of cultures, one can only imagine the level of anger and frustration that occurs, often time stemming from miscommunication of language, ignorance, or just simply life in the big city.

Growing up in New York City, a “city that never sleeps” with a population of about
(xxsxxxx) and a diversified number of cultures, one can only imagine the level of anger and
frustration that occurs, often time stemming from miscommunication of language, ignorance,
or just simply life in the big city.

According to Webster’s dictionary Anger is a noun depicted as a “feeling of great
displeasure or hostility: wrath.” In essence anger is an emotional feeling. Why do people
get angry? In my opinion people get angry for many different reasons.

• Frustration
• jealousy
• contempt
• lack of control

Frustration, jealousy, contempt and lack of control are only a small amount of the terms
associated with anger, the list goes. One would say that anger is the end results of the
whole product the other associated terms are merely contributing factors.

For example, let’s look at frustration: People often become frustrated when they're unable
to accomplish the goals they intended to reach. In their frustration some may say or do
things that knowingly or unknowingly display hostility or wrath. These acts usually end
with negative outcomes. Another example of why people get angry is due to lack of control.

Lack of control: some people need a certain amount of control over situations. These
people believe that control gives' them power and once that control is taken away from them
they feel powerless and thus resulting in resentment or anger. Yet another example of why
people get angry is due to jealousy.

Jealousy is a very strong emotional feeling that is not only limited to relationships as
some often associate it with, jealousy comes in many forms. Take jealousy of ones
employment status, or one’s looks, complexion, body shape, financial status to name a few.
The list goes on. These jealousy’s usually end up displaying themselves as anger.

Finally Contempt: People that hold contemptuous feelings may be the biggest risk for
physical related illness. Contempt is a strong powerful sickness that requires a lot of
negative association. As in biblical terms contempt creates sin. One who is contemptuous
stands the chance of doing mean angry things.

The Truth behind the temper, the real issue

Let look at the bottom line, the truth behind the temper. Lets start by answering a couple
of basic questions one question being a well know psychologist question. What is the real
issue. And are you really angry.

Are we really angry? When we were children growing up and we stormed into the house
straight to our bedroom slamming the door then throwing ourselves on the bed in floods of
tears. Our parents often came to us caressing us gently and more often then none it would
be our moms and she would ask that magic question. What’s the matter honey? You would tell
her your story about little Tommy and the skate board mommy would listen and once again ask
the question What’s the matter honey but this time she would add a few suggestions to the
question like are you angry because Tommy has a new skate board now and you still have your
old one. You think about her question hoping that if you answer the question truthfully
she may just get you a new skateboard. So you tell her the real reason your angry. And to
your surprise she begins to reason with you and she helps you to see that having a new
skate board is not as big of a deal as you thought it was;. Your no longer hurt and all you
feelings of jealousy and angry disappear immediately you have just received a self
satisfying feeling that overpowered your emotional feeling of anger and your not even mad
at Tommy anymore.

People often have hidden issues that display themselves as anger. These are not always
that harmful to the person physical and emotional being but can become stumbling blocks in
there walk through life.
